    Vostro 1400 Upgrade VGA to 8600 GT Possible?

    Hey guys.

    Can I upgrade my Vostro 1400 VGA Card to GeForce 8600 GT? It has 8400M GS but is very low to games.

    No i don't believe you can as it isn't mxm compatible. To my knowledge, the graphics card is soldered to the system board. Bad luck my friend, but at least it's better than integrated graphics eh!

    I talk to assistance and they told me i have 90% because 8400 and 8600 have the same size. Them i need check this information with "notebooks hackers" hehe :)

    You can't upgrade because these cards are on the motherboard directly and not on an MXM card. Same with the 1330, and 1530 as well.

    You can only upgrade if the card is in the MXM format, or in Dell`s proprietary module.
    Since it`s not the case,you`re stuck with it.

    Yes, I think buy on Dell. Tomorrow a technician computer coming at my office to fix my wireless. I will ask to him about the vga cards

    Technically, it can be done if you are able to get a proprietary 8600m GT card from Dell, but not likely.

    It would probalby be soldered to the motherboard, I am not sure on the 1400. You would have to be capable of resoldering the new card if you could get one.
