When pushing Fn and the up and down buttons, my backlight doesn't seem to be changing brighter or darker. Anyone know a solution to this?

It was working about a few hours ago, and then when trying just now, it didn't work. I didn't install any new software or updates and it seems to not work.

Have you tried a full power down, remove all power including battery. Let it sit for a few minutes, put battery back in and power up?

is it plugged in??? there are 2 settings in the bios that only allow it to go up to a certain level while on battery vs being plugged in.. also possible you may have turned off the display hot keys??

Did you format the factory installed OS and reinstalled your own (Vista)? If so, make sure you download and install the Dell NSS installation. This updates a whole bunch of stuff.

I had this EXACT problem with my Vostro 1400 after the computer resumes from sleep. Installing the NSS fixed it.
