Hi, I'm going to buy Vostro 1400 with 80GB HDD (5400rpm) and I would like to change it later for other disk because of money. Dell's 7200rpm option is a little bit pricey so I would buy some Seagate. The question is - will Seagate Momentus fit in the Vostro? Has anyone try it? And what about the warranty? And the last question - what HDD put Dell in the Vostro 1400? Is it the Seagate .3? Many thanks.

Any 2.5 inch HDD will fit into your laptop. You'll just have to take the plastic casing from the Dell HDD and put it on the new HDD so it holds in place.

Thanks for the quick reply, and what about the warranty?

just make sure it is a sata 2.5" hard drive and you are fine.
as for the warranty, dell will not warrent that part, so if it dies, you will need to go to segate for a replacement. however, it will not void your dells warranty for the rest of the laptop if that is what you are asking. -
Yep, that's what I wanted to know
Thanks a lot.
