My Vostro 1400 is showing all kinds of weird artifacts :( (pink, green)
I get this right from boot up, bios screen and even in windows :(

has my LCD gone bonkers?

Could be the screen, but more likely, it would be the card or onboard video processor--whichever one that you have in your laptop.

Have you tried connecting an external monitor? See if it happens on the external monitor--if not, then chances are that it is the panel, cable/connector, or inverter. If it does, then the card or onboard video.

    heya Jak,

up I did! I connected my LCD to the VGA output and everything showed up just fine.. Im guessing that its a lose connection in the LCD cable somewhere.
This used to happen sometime back but used to just disappear. Now it just wont go!

Damn I hate this! dell wont support me during the weekends  :(

You can check the connections yourself. Pull up the service manual from Dell Support and it gives detailed instructions. It is not difficult to do.

Might not want to do that if it is still under warranty with Dell.
