    Hi folks,

Has this issue ever been settled? I've seen some people say they definitely have gddr3 and others seem to have the memory clock of gddr2 memory. I just checked Dell's website and it does actually show gddr2 for the Vostro machines, but I know several people on these boards have checked and confirmed they have gddr3. Is this another issue of "luck of the draw" like with the screens?

I really hope I get gddr3 memory in my machine :-/

Unless something has changed recently, I believe all Vostro 1400s with 8400GS cards come with GDDR3 memory, though it's running only at 500MHz, verses the card's official 600Mhz clock rate. If the card had DDR2, like the 8600GT in the Vostro 1500 it would probably only run at 400MHz.

I keep getting conflicting reports :-/ OH well, hopefully I'll get the faster memory. I heard it has a lot more overclocking potential than the ddr2.
