    Just a question....

Is it possible to configure a Vostro 1400 w/ Windows Vista Home Premium?

The Dell website allows you to choose only between Vista Business and Ultimate.

If you were to call them, could you get Home Premium??

    Thanks

Personally, I spent 4 or 5 hours attempting to get this done over the phone and did not have any luck. Some people did end up getting a Vostro 1400 with Premium on it, so it was possible, just not easy.

Search the forum, If you get the basic and they forget to give you the OS DVD you can ask for a copy. Many have gotten the premium instead of the basic.
Not sure how and why but just another option.

Already in the process of trying that. I did the online chat today for an OS disc, crossing my fingers for the Premium disc. If they send me the Vista Basic disc, I am fine with that too. I am more concerned about getting a disc to install the OS in the event of a HD failure than I am about getting a better version of Vista.

I'm sure it the same as it was with my 1500. I just called and asked for it (while ordering) and he said sure and didn't mention it again.

I ordered a 1400 over the phone, and was able to get Premium. I asked, and he said something like "yeah, I see it here."
