My laptop has proved it's sturdiness, but I wish the test hadn't been so rough. :(

After a crowded day of driving in the family car, my dad opened his door to check out a hotel room, and my poor laptop slid from it's perch on a mound of bags and coats to drop about three feet onto asphalt.

    My heart sank.

But when I picked it up and turned it on, it booted right up, and no damage seems to have happened to the HD or screen.

Unfortunately, there was some cosmetic damage.....maybe I'll give you some pics later. The thing is, I just bought this laptop a couple of months ago, and it's already scratched up!

    Arrrrrgh.

The rear left corner seems to have taken the brunt of the blow, and the paint is scratched off for a little less than 1/2 an inch, and there's a tiny scratch in the metal itself....then the laptop bounced and landed on the lid, where the paint was flaked off in one spot, smaller than the head of a pin; and there's a couple other spots where little scratches are evident, but not very noticeable.

For the force of the fall, I'm impressed with this laptop! The magnesium alloy frame and the HD shock protection worked quite well, and the lid was reinforced with metal, which I appreciated. This laptop has earned it's status as a business laptop.

Maybe I can repair some of the cosmetic damage with one of those touch-up paint pens you can get for cars?
    And it's not terrible.

    Anyway, I'm glad it survived....

I just used a permanent marker on a couple of the smaller areas, and live with the scratch. It's kind of badass, because it proves how tough this thing is. :GEEK:
