Hi there
After much deliberation and posting on this excellent site I have finally ordered my Laptop. I hope I have got a good deal as it took some bartering with the rep.
Please bear in mind I could not go above £550 at all. My spec is:
Intel® Core 2 Duo T5470 Processor (1.6GHz,800MHz,2MB L2 cache) edit
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
Base Warranty - 1 Year Business Hardware Support
15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display with TrueLife
Matte Jet Black with Camera
2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024)
160GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive
128MB nVidia® GeForce® 8400M GS
Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive
Primary 6-cell Lithium-Ion Battery (56 WHr)
Norton Internet Security 2007 - 15 Month Protection
Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth 2.0 Module (up to 3Mbps) with Enhanced Data Rate, for Vista
Intel® Pro Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g Mini-Card
56.6k V.92 Capable Internal Modem & Adapter
I know some will recoil at Norton but I have always had it and 2007 has served me well. I got it a bit back as an upgrade from 2005 and therefore would not be able to get 2005 on Vista so I got that thrown in.
It all came to £550
Good deal???![]()

Looks good, especially with the norton and bluetooth. Spec is similar to mine (see sig)

I think its not so good. My friend got:
T7100
2gb ram
160gb hdd
Intel wireless n card
9 cell battery
8600 gt
All for £525...YES £525! But i doubt you can get now as the offer ended and it was real cheap due to the delays. Compared to my friend its not a good deal but compared to today's prices its ok. -
Yes, it all depends on the deals at the time I suppose. I got the impression that they are selling that many Vostro's that can afford to offer less incentives and freebies.
In fact the reps were trying to steer me towards an Inspiron.
Will be interesting to see what the new deals are tomorrow!
