I ordered the Vostro 1500 at 11am this morning (24-Aug-2007). They gave me an ESD of 31-Aug-2007. Today at 8pm, the 1500 was in Build. At 10pm the 1500 was in Testing. If all goes well, it looks like it could be delivered here in less than a week.

Here's an update. It's 22 hours after I placed the order and it's in Boxing. The specs for the 1500 are in my signature now.

Yeah, they are coming quick. I ordered my Vostro 1500 on 8/18 and it was delivered to my door yesterday (8/24).

I just checked the status of my Vostro 1500 and it is now Shipped. That is a real fast turn around for Dell. I ordered on Friday and got Shipped on Monday. I'll give an update on any issues when it arrives. I'm quite concerned about the screen and possible grain issues.

I'm curious about something. Since the Vostro is very similar to the Inspiron, why are people hanging on to their Inspiron orders for months when they can get a Vostro in a few days?

I ordered Saturday and mine was shipped today as well. I am nothing but impressed with my experience with Dell thus far. Shame to see that others aren't having comparable experiences.

I was told I needed a Tax ID to order a Vostro from a CSR. Though I never thought about checking online if I needed one.

You couldn't be more wrong. Have you seen how long it takes to build some people's laptops in this forum? 40-50+ days!

Just because some people get theirs fast (mainly Vostros/Latitudes), doesn't mean that most people are getting theirs quickly.

Another thing, North American laptops are built in Malaysia. European laptops are built in Ireland.
