    Hi all,

I've got my eye on the Vostro 1500. Thing that is putting me off abit though is the fact they don't offer a non glossy for screens higher than the standard 1280 x 800 resolution, really don't know why dell don't give the option! I do alot of photo work and want to play the odd game so I was thinking that 1440 x 900 would be a good place in the middle for both. Question is how glossy are the truelife screens? Are they like mirrors? If so I think that could get on my nerves abit.

My current laptop is a Acer travelmate 8100 pentium M 1.8Ghz 512mb. The specs for the dell I was looking at are 1.4 Ghz core duo 2 T5270, 2GB RAM, 8600M GT. Would the purchase of the dell show a big enough jump in performance to warrant the purchase?

I keep reading that the 8600M GT does not perform as well in the Vostro 1500 due to dell only choosing the DDR2 version of it. How well does it stand up?

    Cheers
