Hello, I ordered my Vostro 1500 a few days ago, with the following specs:

    Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.2GHz)
    Windows Vista Business
    15.4 SXGA+
    2GB DDR2 667
    160GB 5400RPM HD
    GeForce 8600M GT
    Intel PRO Wireless 3945 card

    So, here's my question.

I've heard about the AUO screens being pretty crappy compared to the LG. What are the chances that I'm going to get an AUO screen, considering the screen I ordered (an SXGA+)? And, if I do end up getting an AUO screen, is there anyway I could return the laptop to Dell and get it replaced with the LG screen?

    Thanks.

If you're getting a widescreen SXGA+, chances are you'll get a SEC, and they can be grainy or yellowish. There doesn't seem to be anyway to specify the manufacturer of your screen, either when you buy or when you return for replacement. You can ask, but that doesn't mean you'll get. But AOU and SEC do make some good screens, so see how yours turns out before you start worrying.

    Thanks!

Oh, and if the ship date says 9/28, does that mean that they're shipping it from the factory on that date, or that it's supposed to arrive at my doorstep on that date?

    Lucky!

How do you check to find out the manufacturer of the screen?

Got mine yesterday with an LG. This is one of the best notebook screens I've ever seen. Hopefully at this point Dell is sick of replacing screens and just shipping the LG to begin with.

    Right Click Computer icon
    Click Properties
    Device Manager
    Click + next to Monitors
    Double-click Generic PnP Monitor
    Details tab
Click dropdown menu box and choose Hardware IDs
    Your monitor info should appear

I just checked the device manager.

An LPLF300 is an LG, right?

Absolutely amazing. There's some light bleeding at the bottom of the screen, but only when it's dark.

My 1500 was shipped 9/27 and just arrived today 10/03. I was worried about the screen issue also but managed to end up with the LG screen. This thing is great so far!
