Vostro 1500 Shipped? Confused...

Hello. I ordered my Vostro 1500 from Dell Canada on August 16th. Now I have heard about the delays and such and was expecting a long wait. However, yesterday (The 18th), I checked my order status online and it said it has been shipped. The Estimated date of arrival is sill September 3rd.

I was just wondering, how was the laptop built so fast if they are backed up with orders? And also, should I expect my laptop sooner then September 3rd since it has been shipped?

Sorry if there is an obvious answer to these questions, this is my first online purchase experience.

The backup is with the Inspiron colored lids. If you look around, most people who ordered Vostros are receiving them quickly. It's the same with mine. Two identical latops: a yellow inspiron 1720 and a vostro 1700. The Inspiron 1720 is still delayed until 8/28. The Vostro was finished in 1 day.

 

My apologies, I thought the delay was with all of Dell's computers. Thanks for the clear up.

so how long will it take a vostro 1500 ship to its destination... i might buy mine next week ( thursday probably ).. .. i live in mexico and im gonna order it from here.... i´m gonna leave from here sept. 3erd to visit some family over there and come back sept. 15

Generally for Vostros... not very long. Mine got done and went into boxing in a single day. I'll expect it to ship this coming week. So it should take like 1-2 weeks from order date to delivery date.

The delay was not only on the color lid of Inspiron. There was a shortage of LCD and webcam. I think now the LCD supply is okay but the webcam is still causing delay. If your Vostro does not have a webcam, it should be shipped within 2 weeks. My Vostro 1400 order on 8/13 finished production on 8/16 and will be delivered to my office today (8/20).

 

I ordered my Vostro 1500 the same day as you (16th), but I'm not too sure what stage it is in (My mom ordered on her credit card;she seldom checks her mail). I'm hoping it gets here soon though! All these quick shipping stories are making me happy!

 

Still haven't received the Vostro...but it has been shipped, I confirmed it with a rep.

However, I was given my Purolator tracking number but I can't track it online. All i have is a phone number so I guess I'll call that later on today when I have more time.

BTW My Vosto was ordered with a webcam and there was no delay.

When you build it, I think it must give a pretty good idea what items are in short supply (annotated with "May delay" in red). I think the WSXGA+ is the only screen that is not in short supply now. The bigger battery and bluetooth both said they would cause delay.

I ordered the 6-cell, WSXGA+, webcam, and no bluetooth...and I have an estimated ship date of Thursday, delivery est of Friday. I hope it pans out!
