Hey guys, woke up today to see that my order has shipped, and the manufacturing plant is only 1 hour away ;)

    Heres my order details:

    Order Date: 22/08/2007
Estimated Delivery Date (on or before this date): 14/09/2007
    Actual Shipment Date: 30/08/2007

See, throughout the week I made several pushy phonecalls and emails saying that I'm leaving for a business trip in the first week in september, and would require the laptop by then. At first they did nothing, but about 4 emails and 2 phonecalls later, they prioritized my order and forced it into production ;)

A word of advice, don't be afraid to demand what you want, after all, you are paying for the customer service, and ultimately the laptop :)

Good for you, you got yourself ahead of other people who've been waiting longer.
If everybody now starts doing this, the effect will be 0,0 again (what it should be unless you REALLY have a DAMN GOOD REASON to be serviced faster than others).

pretty much everyone can say that, now can't they
I for one can't imagine your career depends on when you receive your laptop ... especially not since you knew about the delays, so you could've gone with something else

I ordered it on August 21st and I received my Vostro today. I'm in London, btw. I made no calls or had any contact with Dell.

I would do this to get mine faster but i think having my order forced will have unforeseen consequences, for example they might stick one of the grainy returned screens on it or something just to push it out the door faster. Lady on the phone said it was put on priority anyways, because im a business customer.

I doubt whatever or however you budge these CSRs or sales ppl or even their managers/supervisors you can force them to deliver your laptop soon as they will hardly have any control regarding that unless it is really a very very high priority (may be for some VIP or someone)....

I'm willing to bet that all you got was a psychosomatic feeling of accomplishment. I ordered my vostro and did absolutely nothing in terms of being an annoying brat, and got it in 6 days. 1.6 / 8600 / wxga+

Wonder why people are complaining about vostro delayes.

I ordered mine 8/22 and had it in my hand 8/29

I dont think your emailing did anything. Dell purposefully gives you a delayed ETA just to be on the safe side.
My delivery date was like 2nd week of September. I didn't call or do anything, it just came in 6 days.

I did the same (I really did have a trip, I was leaving the country for 2 weeks) and they sent a request to the build team to speed up my delivery... the request was denied.

The laptop arrived 2 days after I left and thus ate 12 days of my 30 day return period sitting in a box in our shipping bay.

That just seems so odd, the differing delivery times. I ordered mine last Saturday, and it still hasn't shipped yet. But order on Friday and get it in five days... hmmmm.

Did the Dell site indicate it appropriately or was the status update lagged behind by a day or two?

I just called the 1-800 number and it said it is in the "boxing" stage. So it may ship out at any time now. Would have been nice to have it over my long four day weekend, but oh well.

Well I called the cloud controllers last night and asked them for it to be sunny today. Wouldn't you know it, its sunny right now. That must mean my phone call worked. Couldn't be coincidental.
