Up until today my vostro would quickly hibernate when manually instructed.

However it won't work anymore. The option is checked and I have easily enough free disk space to allow it.
When i press the shortcut volume buttons on the front of the laptop it used to show the volume go up or down on the screen.
I think this stopped being shown on the screen at the same time the laptop wont hibernate.

    Anyone got any ideas??

Update your drivers...especially the hotkey driver.

If nothing works, do a fresh install!

Any tips on where to get the exact drivers?
Any idea why my volume and brightness are no longer being shown in the bottom right corner of the screen when i adjust them?

I had a similar issue recovering from hibernate.... I reinstalled the video driver from the dell driver disc. All was fixed and still is. That issue was a month ago now. So I would reinstall the video driver.

The volume/brightness displays are part of the Dell Quickset utility (I think this is the hotkey utility that is being referred to)
