When using the vostro for a long time do you feel heat eminating from the touchpad, keyoard, or palmrest area?

I really need to know because I will be using this laptop a lot and comfort is a major issue for me. I just returned a toshiba that had lots of heat coming out of the touchpad, so I don't want to make the same mistake twice.

    Thank you,

    J.

Normal use: No, not at all.

Gaming: Played for one hour. Fan was a bit...well it was on, not really noticeable.

Better than my POS compaq I had. Heating problems are nill, though maybe 'cause I have the 1.6 ghz. *shrugs*

Like Waveblade said, I didn't notice any heat when surfing the web or using AIM.

The only games I have played so far are old and are not so demanding, such as Halo, Hitman Blood Money, Max Payne 2. During these games the fan was on but barely noticeable as with normal use. Heat was no problem either.

I went through a lot of reviews on the Vostro 1500 and the new Inspirons and it seems DELL has managed to keep all these models quite cool during their usage.... :)

I have a Vostro 1400 and the fan runs most of the time, and the areas you mentioned stay pretty cool. The only part of the laptop that gets warm for me is the underside (especially by the fans, but it still stays cool enough to keep on my lap.

I played Supreme Commander for a while and the bottom was the only thing that was noticeably warm. I didnt keep on my lap for a long time, but I would think if you are gaming hard on it, having something to put between you and the laptop would be ideal, but for normal stuff i don't htink it would be a huge problem

No heat issues for me, but I'm sure if you block the air intake in the back left you might get some heating of the case there.

No heat issues for me either. 4 hours of web browsing and word processing and still cool. Fan comes on at times but that is to be expected. Palm rest and touch pad are cool to the touch.

i dunno whats goin on with mine, but i cant play hitman bloodmoney for crap. i even set everything to low, but for some reason i have massive mouse lag no matter what mouse i use, and the frame rate isnt that good either.

i got it with t7500 processor, 256 8600m GT, and 2 gigs ram. the only stuff im running in the back ground is creative sound console, AVG anti virus, and Setpoint 4.

*shrug* also, i cant overclock using latest nvidia drivers and ntune.

my vostro 1400 stays cool~. good heat distribution.^^(Maybe,, this is why Vostro 1400 is a bit chunkier than other 14inch laptops....)

hmmmm if you are worried then maybe you should buy a chill mat for ur laptop it might do the trick cause most laptops do heat up a bit after long usage im planning to buy 1 too just in case if it gets really hot
