    Hi everybody,

I have problems with reconnecting my Dell bluetooth headset BH200 with my Vostro under Windows Vista Home Premium and I hope to find somebody here having the same headset and perhaps can help me.

I have paired the headset with my vostro laptop and they work together without any problems. When I want to re-connect the headset to my laptop (after disconnecting it while I shut down the computer) the laptop and the headset do not connect theirself.

Bluetooth is always on and I switch on the headset and according to the manual it should connect with the laptop and stay connected. But nothing happens. I switch on the headset and blue LED stays on and as it does not connect with the laptop it switches itself off after a while.

What is wrong? What settings do I have to change?

    Thanks for your support.

    Rudy

The manual says on page 60:
    Re-connecting
When your headset is turned off and then on again, it is only
necessary to press the Multi-function key once. This will reestablish
the connection to either music or phone mode.

    As attached.

Note: The more often your computer is scanning for devices the quicker the connection is initially made but the shorter your battery life will be.

I tend to just use the tray icon right-click 'quick connect' option to preserve battery life and to initialise an immediate connection with my paired devices.

Your instruction manual quote appears to be referencing compatibility with mobile phone devices. These emit a steadier pulse beyond the '1 minute minimum' of a typical notebook, and so can reconnect much quicker. Bluetooth through a computer is not quite so fluid a user experience I'm afraid.

(FYI: Never start iTunes before establishing a Bluetooth headset connection, and restart iTunes in the event of losing and re-establishing a headset connection; the software is very... 'wobbly', with regard current Bluetooth A2DP support.

That is, if you even use iTunes of course.)

Thank you very much for your help. It seems to me that you are running Windows XP as I can not find these settings under my Windows Vista.

Is it right, that I have to make the necessary changes somwhere in the section where "searching for bluetooth devices" is listed?

Right click your tray icon and choose 'Bluetooth Configuration'. Everything you need to set will be found through that tabbed window. It shouldn't (given that Bluetooth is a standard outside of Microsoft) differ too wildly from that of my own.

Beyond that, I am unable to advise any furthur under Vista.

It seems that "automatic checking for bluetooth devices around the laptop" should be ON so that the bluetooth headset can be found and linked by the computer.
