I just received my Vostro yesterday and, I must say, I am impressed for the price ($599 model). I had an Inspiron 6000 previously and this has a much better build quality. When I used to pick up my 6000 there was noticeable flexing in the case, the Vostro has no flexing at all. The screen does not exhibit any graininess, however, the viewing angle vertically seems to be fairly narrow for optimum brightness and there is a small amount of light leakage near the bottom. I have not tried the headphone jack.

The model I purchased came with an 8400m GS graphics card so, naturally, I wanted to run 3dmark06 for comparison. I downloaded the free version, and proceeded to perform the test. Settings were default on 3dmark06. I never actually finished the benchmark because the test was running very slow (.5 to 5 FPS) during the test. Is this normal for this card? I'm not expecting much, but this seems a little slow.

    Any help is appreciated.

Yes it is normal. Let it run. You should get a score around 1500.
