If i open recording devices by right-clicking the volume control i can see the volume bar going up and down saying it is getting sound but if i click the volume bar to adjust the volume it does not show any sound comeing out and it is not muted. I am trying to connect my UTV3 box to my laptop. Any ideas. :(

Windows Vista can record from the line-in, but it will not play out of the speakers, I had the same problem a few days ago.

I'm sure there is probably a patch or piece of software that will allow it, but I just bought a sound mixer to use with my speakers. :)

XP lets the input go through the speakers. I was wanting to use the input so I didn't have to swap the cables between computers, so I bought a sound mixer (like the ones that are used with PA systems at confernces/concerts). As I said, I'm sure someone has found a way around it, but I didn't. Hopefully it's one of the little fixes in SP1 (though I doubt it, knowing MS)
