^^^^ Title says it all... Does a Vostro 1500 with a webcam have a built in microphone?

There's already been a thread about this before I think. Yeah, the Vostro comes with a mic if you had the webcam option

I don't have the webcam and I have a mic. There are two small holes on either side where the webcam should have been.

No, the Vostro come with a mic. Period.
I don't have the webcam and I just recorded my own voice. I guess the mic is somewhere under the laptop, where the speakers are.

I am no media expert, on the contrary- but is not a bad mic, in my opinion. Maybe even stereo, by the sound of the recording... (not sure about this, I guess I'll have to clap on either sides of the laptop while recording and then have a look in the volume bars for each channel...)

Right click on the speaker icon in your task bar and select open volume control. Select options -> properties and select recording. Turn the volume up on your microphone. You will then need to know which program you intend on using to record.
