    Vostro 1500 not shutting down

    Recently bought a vostro 1500 and did a clean install of windows vista business. However, every now and then, windows will hang at the shutting down screen. Anyone has any clue on what's wrong? Did a reinstall again but to no avail. Still couldn't shut down every now and then. Thanks

    Check the tweak in this thread on improving shutdown time.

    The computer could also be installing updates.

    i left it there for awhile and it stays hang forever. Don't think it's installing updates.

    If its still hang up, shut it down by any of the two rough methods:
    -keep pressed the on button for some seconds, it should either shout down or restart (I don't remember the function in the laptop)
    -disconect the battery and then unplug the power cable.

    Later turn it on and do all the critical updates. That's all I can recall quickly of choices to do.
