    which one is better and why?
    i think that the vostro 1500 is better because the video card is 512mb

    Better is subjective.

    If you're wondering what's faster, the XPS system is. The XPS uses GDDR3 VRAM at a higher clock rate than the Vostro's DDR2 VRAM.

    MB of VRAM doesn't matter.

    the 1500 is more cost effective but has the slower ddr2 gfx. The 1530 is sexier, a little faster and much pricier
