The game gets past the initial cutscene after going on "new game" but then does nothing after the bioshock logo. Just a black screen, although it appears to be loading. I left it a minute and nothing happens. Cntrl/alt/delete and i have to cancel it...

what could be the problem and how can i fix it? I was running med settings on 1440x900.

    Cheers.

Install 163.44 driver (has special tweaks and fixes for Bioshok) for best performance. Get them from laptopvideo2go.

Get newer video drivers from laptopvideo2go. Updating your BIOS shouldn't be necessary and is dangerous (if you lose power during the middle of the update your laptop is a paperweight).

The Solution to this is the 163.44 Bioshock Drivers here http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14562

These drivers were specially released to make it so that Bioshock runs properly on Nvidia hardware. I was having the identical problem with the demo before.

Don't reinstall, and DON'T flash your bios.

what is the deal with the terrible, TERRIBLE advice on this thread (bios flashing)?
the bios has nothing to do with the problem at all

    anyways
    go to laptopvideo2go.com

click the link in the top to download drivers
choose the most recent one for your OS
then you'll end up at a thread
    there should be multicoloured links
download the driver, AND the 'modded inf'
run the driver exe, and it should extract files to folder x (to be specified by you)
copy the modded inf to the folder x and replace the existing file
open file x and run the 'setup' file
