Based on the feedback I got when I posted "what laptop to buy"; I am pretty sure I will end up with the Dell Vostro 1500. I have some questions:

    1. I have read some issues with the screen. Options at no cost are XGA LCD Display or XGA LCD Display with True Life. What's the difference?

    2. Any options are "must haves"?

    3. What about warranty? Should I shell out the $? I haven't had an issue with my Toshiba laptop in 2-3 yrs and Dell is better, right?

Any specific coupons / rebates on the 1500 out there? I don't see any :( .

    Thanks

(edit) No gaming. I did post the questionaire on the main section on here, but since I have narrowed it down to the 1500, now i just need to spec it out :) ....

    1. Just WXGA LCD means a matte (non-reflective) screen, WXGA w/ TrueLife means a glossy, reflective screen (better contrast/colours)

    2. I would get the 8600M GT if you plan on playing any newly-released games at higher details.

    3. I got the 3-year completecare with my 1420, I got it just for peace of mind since I'm a student and all that carrying around might shorten its lifespan. It all depends on what you're planning to do with your laptop.

Not sure, unless you're buying in Canada, in that case no.

I agree with SmoothTofu's answers and want to second the 8600GT option.
