    Hey,

I was going to order my Inspiron 1520 but I noticed the Vostro 1500 Had the same specification but was priced £200 cheaper. Will there be problems if I order the Vostro even though I don't own or work in any business? Also is there any reason as to why the Vostro is £200 cheaper as in performance wise. The spec I'm looking at is 2.0GHz CPU, 2GB Ram, 160GB SATA HDD and the Nvidia 8600m GT.

    Thanks for your help

Performance-wise: No, unless you get the 7200 Hard Drive instead of 5400 for load times.

In the states it does not matter if you work for small business, I would assume the same for the other side of the pond.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. I'm glad to hear performance wise they're the same. So when purchasing I can just make up the name of the company? Also as a Vostro 1500 user how is it in terms of mobility. I'm a scrawny student who will be taking this to Uni everyday :D

    Thanks again

I think that if you're talking option for option - the difference would be if you want an all black laptop or if you would like silver keyboard and a black/colored cover/outside. Build, everything, option for option are the same.

Hehe, I would prefer the silver inside but for £200 off the price I wouldn't care if the whole laptop was a plain grey box :p

The only option that I know is different is the Inspiron offer a HD-DVD drive. The Vostro does not. But from what it sounds like, that will not be something that you would order anyway.

Does the Vostro come with the multimedia remote? I saw it on the 1520 review, but I didn't see one in the 1500.

edit: Also, I noticed in the reviews, the 1500 gets a slightly higher 3dMark06 score compared to the 1520 [same graphics card -- 8600M GT]. I think 300+ higher score is significant enough? Or maybe that's because the 1520 has more bloatware.

Yes it does. I got one with mine. It's an option, not standard.

Vostro 1500 is fine, I got mine for Uni stuff and it's perfectly good - infact all the Uni kids either have Macbooks, cheap PC World laptops or the silver Inspirons so when you roll up with a black inspiron people definately ask how you got it :) I have anyway

Yup. I put my full name as the company name field when ordering a Latitude D430.

Main difference is no colour choice for the Vostro, option for XP instead of compulsory Vista and less bloatware installed on the Vostro on request.

I've ordered mine but haven't paid for it yet. Trying to figure out how to get off work and wire the money or getting a credit card within 5 days.

Get the vostro, It looks great, I've seen the old Inspiron 6400 and I think Vostro 1500 is a much better looker.

And yes, its cheaper than the inspiron.
