I have a m4300 on order but received notice that it had been delayed and told that I could cancel my order if I wanted to. I have been reading all the post on the vostro 1500 and am wondering if that is possibly what I need. Not much is said about the 4300 and the main reason I ordered it is I want something that will meet my needs 3 years down the road and is fast.

This will be my first notebook as I usually replace a desktop every 4 years. My current desktop is 3 years old, a pentium 4 that seems so slow. I have a paralegal consulting business and enjoy photoshop cs in my spare time. I also breed and show bloodhounds so I will have a pedigree program with genetic coefficients. I would appreciate anyone's suggestions.

The Precision M4300 is almost the same notebook as the Latitude D830 with some differences (GPU, design..)

Any specific reason to choose the M4300? need workstation GPU or something?

And no, Vostro isn't the same league, the Precision/Latitude will ahve much better build quality, thinner/lighter, better battery life...etc. ..less powerful video card though.

You may consider filling out the FAQ.

Precision laptops are the best dell makes in terms of quality. It wont necessarily make it be fast forever, but it will allow it withstand more bumps and bruises than other models without breaking.

The Precision M4300 is absolutely the same as the Latitude D830 in terms of build quality. And, they are almost the same notebook as I said before.
