    Hey all,
I'm deciding between a Vostro 1500 and a D830 (using the $1700-$400 deal). My usage will be typical school stuff- mostly web, word, excel, a stats program, maybe some photoshop for fun. I plan to run XP home for now, and then go to Vista next year. I like the fact that the D830 has a good reputation, but I also like $250 in my pocket. Any thoughts? I'd also love to hear what people think of the build quality and design of the 1520's.

    both have: Core 2 Duo T7300, 15.4 WXGA, 2GB 667MHz RAM, DVD/CD burner, Dell 1390 wireless, bluetooth

    the differences are:
    VOSTRO ($1043)
    120GB 5400RPM HDD
    128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
    High Definition Audio 2.0
    2 Year NBD On-Site Service

    D830 ($1300)
    120GB 7200RPM HDD
    128MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 135M
    3 year mail in service

    actually, there is another difference.
Vostro has FSB 800, D830 is FSB 667

No, they're both 800 MHz FSB.
