Hi all, my first post :) I just received my vostro yesterday and love it so far, but now i want to test some games (company of hero's). i have the 256mb 8600gt, do i want to use the video drivers that are already installed? or are the drivers from nvidia i should use for better performance? Are there any other drivers i want to update or change? thanks

forgot to mention im using vista

Search around, this thread is posted every couple of hours <_<

162.50 is the best IMO right now, or 158.36 if you want to overclock ;)

158.22 avoids random little glitches in-game and coming back from Standby, and on booting on battery. I recommend them.

ok, thanks for the replies. im kind of a noob (this is my first notebook). i did run a search here before posting, but couldn't find anything. I checked my driver version in dxdiag and it says 7.15.0011.0143. i assume this would mean im using driver version 101.43? (even though i cant find that version at laptopvideo2go?)

i downloaded the 162.50 drivers from LV2go. do you uninstall the old drivers first, if so, how do you go about doing so, or do i just install them.

    thanks again

Right click on Computer, Properties, Device Manager, then display adapters, right click properties and uninstall. Then reboot, reinstall new driver, and then reboot again.

you have to download the .inf file and place it into the file where u extracted the driver files, the setup will then recognise it as compatible and the wizard will run.

i still don't understand the drivers set up on laptopvideo.com

Shouldn't the newest drivers be the best for performance? So in that case for XP, wouldn't 163.16 be the best?

Thats what I thought too killahaze. My Vostro 1500 is coming on Monday and I wanna grab the best driver for it and stick it on straight away, thought obviously the highest number would be the best.

165.01 was added to laptopvideo2go back in April tho, whilst some of the lower numbers have been added this month? eh?!

Not necessarily, and to complicate things more...the higher the version number DOES NOT MEAN it is the newest ;)
