I've owned many laptops in the past, most of them with a glossy finish. I opted for the Vostro without TruLife this time because I already owned a mirror. :) But the 1500's screen doesn't look bright enough. Either that's the problem, or there's something else weird about these Vostros that are making my eyes strain.

Is anybody else having this problem or know what I'm talking about? :(

TruLife is just an additional coating on the screen, isn't it? It shouldn't have much to do with screen brightness.

Did you get your Vostro yet? I remember looking at a sample picture provided by dell: one LCD screen without TrueLife and one with TrueLife. The one with True Life seemed to be brighter and much more "colorful".

If it's not bright enough for you, I'm sure you can call Dell and return it for one with Truelife. Well, that's if you have time. I'll look for the picture sample now. I'll post a link when I find it.

You can increase the brightness/contrast thru the nvidia control panel if you have got nvidia card. Mine also looked grainy/blurry with true life.

really? Did you get the XGA+ LCD screen with Truelife? From reading the posts about the grainy problems, it seems like the grainy problem only comes with the XGA+?
