Hi, I recently purchased Vostro 1500 and started voice chat on Yahoo and Skype. My friend on the other side said they are hearing themselves back means they are getting their voice back as a echo ... I had no problem at my end ... This is when I used the in built mic and speaker ..
Then I connected the headphone and mic and started talking and it was ok after that ..

Did anyone experience the same issue ? I don't like to wear headphone and mic to do the chat .. . Is there some setting that I m missing here ...

It is normal, basically the volume of your speakers was so loud that your built in mic could detect it.

I tried bringing it down but it didn't help ... also I kept the LCD screen at 180 deg to the base .. to increase the distance betn mic and speaker .. It didn't help either ..

I have the same problem with the in built mic and speaker in my recently bought Vostro 1500 with software like Messenger and Skype. I first use it with Vista Basic and I didn´t have any trouble, but then I install Xp and this issue start. So the drivers for XP are bad, or is the OS. I need to solve this issue because I use a lot web conference.

If on Vista, right click speaker in systray, go to recording devices. Then go to the internal microphone array and double click. Go to the Microphone Enhancements tab and select Speakerphone. Restart your VoIP application. You will hear a tone symbolizing that the Speakerphone support is active.
