Just did a clean install on my Vostro I bought in early April and I'm wondering what audio driver it uses. I pulled the drivers folder before the clean install and the driver folder for audio is R17186. But there's no setup.exe file within that folder and my drivers CD doesn't have it on there either.
I checked the Dell site and the driver it has listed is Sigmatel but the numbers don't match up.
Any help is appreciated!

Dell constantly updates its drivers so you may not get exact numbers every time you look for drivers on their site.
You can either install the drivers through the Hardware Manager and using the ones in the folder you saved, or simply enter your computer's service tag number on the Dell Support site and it will show you the exact drivers you need based on your computer's hardware.
The Vostros 1400, 1500 and 1700 all use Sigmatel sound hardware. -
This is the driver you need.

The Vostro 1400, 1500 and 1700 for the most part use the same drivers. I have a 1500 and 1700 and the audio driver is the same from DeLL.
edit: This a Vista 32 bit audio driver. -
Perfect! Thank you both. +Reps
