I have read the total guide for dual booting Vista and XP.

I have shrunk my Vista to give me some unpartitioned space.
I am now at the point where I want to install my Nlited XP disk with all neccessary drivers.

The problem is that I have 4 partitions already and that is apparently too many for XP to install.

    1. dell diagnostics (a fat partition)
    2. media direct
    3. recovery partition
    4. vista os

I have never used the Dell Diagnositics but it is apparently for diagnosing hardware problems. (This would be the only reason I would ever call Dell since support if painful there).

My first impulse was to remove the dell diagnostics cause i like media direct. Any thoughts? I can run the Dell Diagnostics off a USB or CD so the only question is will removing it by deleting the partition cause any problems?

do you reall need media direct??

do you really need the recovery partition?

do you really need dell diagnostics?

do you know how to do a clean install of vista if you get rid of those partitions and start over??
