Hi!
I wanted add a second HD to the Vostro 1700 but I REALISED THERE IS NO ADAPTER/CASE to put the second hard drive to. I mean“if THERE IS A DUAL OPTION WHY DIDNT DELL GIVE ME THE TOOLS NEEDED TO ADD A EXTRA HD ?
I wonder if any of you got the extra tools needed to fix that or if not how did you solve it? Shall i just call them and ask them to send me the case + adapter?
I wont pay for it no way to pay to get a second drive, it said in the advertisment it supported 2 HD!!
Humble regards
Mike

quite being cheap. it supports it if you buy it from them with it. if you buy a v6 mustang and want to put a v8 in it on your own will you whine at ford saying that their car supports up to a v8 but you dont have the right parts to do so but you should be given it free because it supports it?

I think its a unfair simile due the fact:
If you order a car and you got special delux winter tiers and rims to it and dont want include that in your package. They dont remove the comeplete plattform beneth the car because.
The option was a bad overpriced harddrive, i bought a better one, actually i bought 2x better one so i had replace the first HD and then thinking to add the other one. But hey I think they should Harddrive ready slots, not buy extra just to get it working. IT supports 2 harddrives so they should give me the ease of just add a second. They should provided the needed components needed if the ease of adding isnt built-in.
Anyone else who agree with me on this matter? -
Where can i find component needed for install a second drive? Thanks in advance

I don't know if we are allowed to link to outside sites, but there are a lot of 2.5'' SATA enclosures.

Check THIS LINK. Dell makes it a P.I.T.A. to get the parts but apparently they are working on it. Contact the Dell rep (DELL-Chris B) in the linked thread and hopefully he can help you out.
