    Shopping for a 17" laptop and looking at the Vostro options for the 1700 the screen comes in three versions and I'd opt for the one with the most pixels.

    While it's obvious that the most expensive one is the best one, the help at Dell.com doesn't tell you the pixel count on the three options...but it does tell you that more pixels are better (not very helpful). And since I'm comparing this to Inspiron and Pavilion which do give pixel count...well...

    Do you know what the pixel counts on a 17" Vostro

    XGA, XGA+, and WUXGA ?
    thanks

    XGA=1024*768, XGA+=1152*864, WUXGA=1920*1200. just multiply
    maybe trying using google and a calculator?

    the WUXGA is much better than the Pavilion dv9700t which has about 1620 x 1050 .

    I currently have an Inspiron 600m with 1400 x 1050 (in 14") and it's really good...the old CPU just can't keep up with everything these days, though.

    what's the difference between 1700 and 1710?

    (and between a Vostro and an Inspiron?)...
    i can't find any good coupons for Vostro, but I can get 30% off Inspiron.

    You might want to read the NBR review on the 1310. The review went on to say the laptop doesn't feel as strong as the current Vostro's. They are much lighter and they feel cheap. They are not aesthetically pleasing as the current Vostro's and the plastic case has sharp edges.

    I was planning on buying one of the new ones and instead yesterday I bought a Vostro 1500 from the DeLL Outlet Store.
