I just received my Vostro 1400 with the T7250 and a 6-cell battery. The battery life seems pretty good, but would exchanging my current model for the lesser T5470 yield better battery life? If so, would the performance difference/cost savings/battery life ratio be worth it?

    thanks,
    derek

I'd stick with what you have, the Core 2 Duo is adaptive in terms of power and if you go into power saver mode the clock speed will be held to preserve battery. Plus hen you're plugged in it's nice to have the extra power when you need it.

So no, don't return, keep what you've got.

    I agree.
Now day processors has built in smart energysaving capability and my C2D t5500 ussually clocks down to only 1Ghz when it is unplugged and being fairly used.
