My dell Vostro 1000 keyboard isn’t functioning properly. Certain keys don’t work at all. The h,g and toe up arrow key. I’ve removed the keyboard and cleaned, plus restore and sypware scan…but wit no luck.

Do you have a solution? Or should I just call Dell and request a replacement keyboard…would they do that?

    Cheers

    Replacement keyboard.

If that doesn't work, get a replacement laptop.

I suggest running the diagnostics first. Try to boot to the diagnostic partition by pressing F12 and select diagnostics. This will run the pre-boot system assessment, lasting about less than five minutes after which will boot to the main dell diags screen. select the custom test and run the keyboard test. you will know if the problem is with the key itself or a software issue. If the keyboard needs replacement, Dell can send a keyboard service kit which comes with instructions in replacing the whole keyboard.

You won't have to pay for anything if your system is under warranty, even shipping costs.
