I just bought a Vostro 1500 and now need a couple more power adapters. Where can I go to get a good one without paying dell a fortune for theirs.

Please be spacific and include links. I have seen some on eBay but would like to know exactly which one to get and from which seller. If eBay is not the right place, then where else is?

    Thank you

Take a look at your adapter to see if it is 65w or 90w, I think the model numbers are PA-10 and PA-12, then look on eBay for them. I'd get the actual Dell ones if I were you.

I do not see how that one is any diffeent. What am I missing. Both are not made by Dell. Are they both knock offs.

It may work but I'll stay away from no brand name ones. Unstable current may kill your laptop and battery. I am using an iGO ICE90 with a S20 tip (from Targus or iGO) as my second power adapter so that I can have one at home and one at office. You may find the iGo ICE90 on clearance in Radio Shack or other stores. It was around $30. The tip costs around $10. The adapter comes with a bunch of tips but not the S20 which most of the current Dell laptops use. The nice thing with universal adapter is you may use it with other laptops (if you find the tip).

This is clearly a knock off....

This is a genuine Dell PS. (You can see the Dell logo on the sticker)

Personally, I wouldn't even risk my machine to a "Universal" laptop power supply. The Dell PS may be a little more, but the peace of mind is worth it.

I am really surprised that the dell brand one is considered the wholly grail. The AC power adapter seems to be such a simple item to make and reproduce. I woud think that a good knock off would exist and be known to all.

Has anybody tried this power supply outside the US?
I'd like to get a spare one too but I live in old Europe and wanted to make sure the thing would work on a 230 V, 50 Hz mains.

(According to specs it should, but I'd like to hear from someone who survived using it at a rating different from that in the US.)
