This is the first time I've noticed this but my Vostro (about 2 months old now) is charging the battery but when it reaches a certain percentage in the charge, the power light that indicates the charging goes off and then just occasionally blinks instead of being on solid.

The battery continues to charge to 100% and works just as long on battery power as it always has. The power light then blinks every 7 seconds once it reaches a certain percentage in the charge until it makes it all the way to 100%. I don't know what percent it reaches when the light starts blinking instead of being on solid but I've only noticed it when it was in the 90's percentage range.

    Is this normal?

If that's the case, is that okay since the battery is not fully charged when it starts doing that? I guess I just don't understand why it would start doing a trickle when it's not that close to being fully charged. Yesterday it was at 93% when I noticed it was flashing on and off and slowly charging.

I sure don't want to shorten my battery life, of course, and it's annoying to see the light off and think it's charged because I'll shut it down and then come back later to unplug it when the light is off...but now I'm having to wait to see if it's still blinking or boot it up to see if it's done.

Educate me if I'm sound dumb, please! :) I'm not sure if I need to investigate this further or just let it be.
