    Vostro XP Clean install guide?

    Anyone have step by step instructions on how to do a clean install of XP on a vostro 1500?? I attempted it and it didnt turn out exactly how i wanted it too

    What do you mean you attempted it but it didn't turn out like you wanted?

    Have a look at the Windows XP Installation Guide. Lots of good informations on how to format and install XP.
    Once that's done, all you need to do is download all the drivers you need (you can either do this before you format and burn them on a CD/DVD or after you format) and install them.

    Well when I tried it after i finished it, in my program files in C/ drive, i still had stuff from the "previous" OS install.

    My main thing is I am not sure what i do as far as partitions and such at the windows partition screen when installing it. I thought maybe you delete your NTFS partition but it wouldnt let me do that. So Im not sure how it goes.

    well, u probably never did the format....format the drive that u're trying to install windows to. as far as partitions go, it's really up to u, i deleted the media direct one but left the smallest one(forgot what's it called).
