This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Vostro shipped a lot sooner than expected

    I made my Vostro 1500 order on 7/26, and got an expected ship date of 8/15. Instead, it shipped on 7/28 (in the DHL system on 7/30). That's a pretty fast turnaround time by any standard in the industry.

    I made another order that day for another 1500, and it is still in production. The difference is that the one that shipped was a smart value package "as is".
    The one that didn't ship yet had some components changed from their default values.

    It could be that they have some boxed "standard" Vostro that don't need the production stage. If shipping time is critical to you, you may want to leave the defaults on...
