Hi, I just bought 2 vostro1700, and I have an issue. Card reader works fine with SD that I tested, but if I use a Memory Stick adapter (for use with an M2 memory card), it doesn´t work. I haven´t any original memory stick for test.

Problem is that when I install, MS doesn´t appear, but if I push a bit the card to in, then, OS detects it and works fine. It seems how if the card doesn´t touch with the "contact surface" of the reader

My doubt is that, it does the same with two vostro1700. Maybe a defective adapter? (original from sony). Card reader isn´t compatible with adapters?

    thanks

Just tried my M2 Adaptor with my 1700 Card Reader and it worked no problem.
Sounds like it's just not sitting in the reader properly and may be a problem with the mechanics of the reader.

Yup - I'm using the same adaptor.

If you're seeing the same problem with 2 Vostro 1700's then it's your adaptor thats causing the problem I'd guess.

    Hi, problem solved.
Problem was "quality" from adaptor. On the contact metal surface, the body-plastic wasn´t flat with contact area, and reader can´t touch. I touch these areas with a mini flat screwdriver, and then Vostro reads it perfectly¡

    thanks to all.
