This is probably a stupid question but whats the screen resolution for the XGA+ w/ Truelife on the Vostros 1500? Unlike the XPS laptops screen selection on the Dell website, it doesn't state the screen resolution for Vostros. Is it 1440x900 just like the XPS? If it is, is the higher resolution worth having Truelife?? My friend has Truelife on this Inspiron and I hated it. Any opinion/experience would really help.

    Thanks in advance

Yes, WXGA+ is 1440x900 resolution. Higher resolution has nothing to do with true life or not. They are two separate things. Resolution is resolution, a glossy screen is a glossy screen. The future is glossy screens, and therefore you can only get the old school matte screens on the regular xga screen. Truelife on the Inspiron is the same as truelife on any other dell computer.

I have the WXGA+ on the Vostro and i like it.

Hey nizzy thanks for the info. It seems I'm getting a bit confused here. On the website it doesn't say WXGA+ its just XGA+ for the extra $50. Does the W you added stand for WideScreen? Also I know the Truelife has nothing to do with the resolution but the glossy screen was kind of annoying when I used my friends Inspiron. So I basically mean't was having the better resolution worth having the glossy screen?

Yes, the W in WXGA+ stands for wide screen. Some people don't like the glossy screens, personally i don't know why, but they are the future. Matte screens wont be around too much longer.

Is it worth it? Thats a personal preference.

Does anyone else like the dell's truelife screen over the matte? Some feed back from anyone with truelife would be good. Does 1440x900 make that big of a difference from 1280x800? Thanks

    XGA+ is 1152 x 864. I've never seen one of these before...

I prefer the "True Life" to the matte.

I also prefer the 1440 resolution. In my personal view, the 1280 is just not enough resolution for me. On 1440, the fonts and crispness of the graphics is just right to me.

Some prefer the 1280, 1680, or 1920. It is personal preference.

I've had WSXGA+ for 3 years now, hated it at first (and also the fact that XP's scaling sucked), but I'm used to it now. I'm stepping "down" now to WXGA+... a little lost "real-estate", but easier on the eyes. :)

I had a vostro with a WXGA and returned it for a WXGA+ and i would never go back. The added screen space is quite worth it.

Hey guys, thanks for the input. The reason I'm asking is because I might return my new Vostro 1500 with a T7500 and returning it for the new Penryn T9300. After reading through these forums I've seen a lot of people enjoy there 1440x900 resolution but my main concern was having the Truelife. I wonder if I could custom order a 1440x900 matte screen hahah. Let me know if returning my vostro for the penryn is a dumb idea also. Keep in mind the return policy for vostro is free (as in they pay for shipping with no restocking fee for up to 30days within the purchase).

You have to live with it, so make sure that it is something that you will be happy with for as long as you own it.

Would of, could of, should of--destroys the user experience!

Believe me I definately agree with you. Thats why I'm trying to get as much opinions as I can before I return my Vostro w/ T7500 and 1280x800 matte screen for the T9300 w/ 1440x900(unfortunately Truelife). I appreciate the help.
