I recently ordered a Dell XPS for a present for a good friend. Finnally when it came (parts on backorder) I opened it to initialize windows etc. Because my friend isnt that knowledgable. First off, the box looked as it had been beaten and there was a scratch on the bottom of the PC. I flipped it over, On the Lid was a huge scratch that stretched the height of the PC!! Seeing this, I called Dell and told them. They didnt understand the problem at all, they kept telling me i had to go to the start menu when this was a physical problem! So just to shut them up I turned it on to press the start menu. The thing wouldnt turn on now! I told them, this is what I got "No,no you need to cliick de stat menu." I hung up after 15 minutes of that. Called again, Fnnally someone understood. They told me that I had to ship it back to them and they would look at it. So, thats what I did. 2 weeks later, (Wanting a status), I called them. They told me that I need to ship the computer before they could do anything. I tolld them I already did. 40 minutes later after looking at records she told me that I shipped it and thier waiting for it to arrive. I overnighted it and went to the post office to see if all was ok, everthing had arrived safely they said. Later, contacted dell, now they said that they got it, but i shipped it to the wrong department (which is the department they gave me!!) and they had to ship it to thier other department. a week later-called-now its lost in the mail somewhere, they said to call back next week. I did, the other department got it and reported it as CONSUMER DAMAGE!!! I told them thats how i got it, so they said they got it to power up after some tweaking and that Windows wasnt activated yet, so they belived me now. They called back 2 days later and told me that they would sell it as refurbished and give me the profit from it. I told them that If the computer was fixed I wanted it back. So, finnally I got it back over a month later!!! And it seems to work fine now! Wost Tech support experience ever!! oh, and after they said they would sell it refurbished, i called back and they said that they wouldnt do that on any circumstances (So i dont think any of them really knows what thier talking about, but i felt like sharing my funny(SARCASM)story to all.

Why did you have to goto the post office?

It's dell who has to pick it up from your place..

If the system was bought brand new, you prolly had atleast 21 day grace period. All you had to was call CSR, and they would've sent you a brand new unit.

    Something isn't right here.

Yeah if ever you have bought the system brand new so Dell should have shouldered the expenses like the shipment and everything and regarding this you should have asked for a new system exchange because of the Inconvenience that they have given you.
