    Hello,

    I have two Dell laptops:
    - Dell Inspiron 6000 with a 1920x1200 WUXGA and Geforce Go (Bought Nov. 2005)
    - Dell Inspiron 6400 with a 1650x1050 WSXGA+ and ATI X1400(Bought Dec. 2006)

Now, I ruined the screen on the Inspiron 6000 when I had a little accident with a milk carton. So I need to replace the screen. Two questions:

    1. Can I put the LCD screen from the Inspiron 6400 into the Inspiron 6000?
    2. Can I buy a WUXGA screen and put it in the Inspiron 6400, essentially upgrading the resolution?
    3. If the answer to question #2 is 'yes', would that mean that all I have to do is buy something like this LP154WU1-A1-COMPATIBLE-15-4-WUXGA-LCD. So I wouldn't need an inverter (whatever that is?)?
    4. Anything I have to look out for when buying a replacement screen?

I hope someone can help me with this. I have opened the laptop before, so I think I'll manage replacing the screen. I'm just very confused what to replace it with!

    Anyway, thanks in advance!

    Hi,

My name is Todd and I'm with Dell's online outreach program. You should be able to switch those LCD screens around on the systems without a problem. The inverters are, from the best of my knowledge, built into any of the LCD screens.

You can also upgrade the screen on the 6400. That model had options for the WUXGA (1920 x 1200) LCD type so you should be fine with purchasing one. The ATI video card should be able to support that resolution.

If you have any other questions please let me know and I'll be glad to look into them for you.

    Thank you,

    Todd
