Could someone post some pics or screenshots of your E1705 with the WUXGA? I havent the greatest of eyes and want to see just how small the text and such is at that resolution. As of now, I'm leaning towards the HP DV9000t with the Ultra Brightview screen (absolutely gorgeous) and just wanna know how the Dell screen compares. Thanks!

its small, but visible on the 17" widescreen... but remember if you don't want them to be small and have seeing issues... just lower the resolution. just because the laptop comes with wuxga doesn't mean you have to use it (it'd be a shame not to, cuz its really valuable and costly) so just get the e1705 without uxga cuz the hp doesn't have uxga i don't think... lemme check...

right ok, hp dv9000t comes with wxga+ or wsxga+ i would prefer to buy the hp, but the e1705 can be bought with wxga or wsxga.... as well... wxga = 1440 x 900 wsxga = 1680x1050 from hp's page...
    http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cto/computer_customize_components.do

dells come in wuxga, wxga, and probably wsxga... you can get it in either size you want... wxga can only go upto 1440 x 900 no larger resolution... wsxga (1680x1050) can perform at wsxga and wxga and wuxga can perform at wxga, wsxga, and wuxga (1920x####) something?

The ultra brightview on the HP hasdual lamps, does Dell offer that? My g/f has that display on her dv8000 and its phenominal. I've seen the E1505 with a1200x800 Trulelife screen and it sucks compared to the HP Ultra.

you do not want to run your notebook LCD outside of the native resolution.

if you buy a wuxga LCD, you need to run it in wuxga or else everything will look fuzzy.

do not buy a high res screen thinking you can drop the resolution because you can't. technically, you can, but it's a solution that you will not want to work with for more than about 12 seconds.

I would go for the Ultra BrightView screen without a doubt at all. Dell is notorious for having lousy screens, among other things.
