    WXGA LED vs WXGA with TrueLife

    Whats the difference?

    LED is the 1537 screen

    WXGA with TrueLife is the 1535 screen

    Basically they are just different backlighting technologies for the LCD screen. In the case of the 1537 screen, the manufacturer of the LCD uses Light Emitting Diodes to light the screen and in the case of the 1535, it uses the older Cold Cathode Flourescent Lighting technology. The benefit of having an LED screen is simply to save (a little more) power than the CCFL. If the relative cost between the two similarly configured machines are too great, I would probably opt for the less expensive of the two. If the difference in the price isn't too great, I would just get the LED since it is nice to have new technology.

    actually, some LED screens consume more power than CCFL ones. also, truelife is dell's marketing speak for "glossy" screen.

    dell does sell "truelife" led screens as well....
