i was just wondering if i should wait for the new I9300 or get the current I9300? :decision:
i read from abaxter that there will be a dual processor core and a new graphics card? not too sure bout the card but im pretty sure i read that there will be dual processors in the new I9300..
will that be the only changes in the new I9300?.. if any1 kno's and can share with everyone i would be soo thankfull!![]()
plus does anyone know what kind of graphics card will be in the new I9300???
thanx a bunch for any input!!! and for the views!![]()

well, it would be a lot cheaper to buy it right now, and if you feel the need, upgrade the gpu in it yourself. To upgrade to the go7800, it will only cost you around 300.
edit:im buying now. -

sorry for all the mistakes in ma post..
didnt mean to confuse any1..
and thanx to Southergirl and xbandaidx for the corrections!
and thanx for the suggestion bjb4735! not sho if im confident enough though to upgrade it myself..
and if the new I9300 will have the go7800 whats the difference between to two? (6800go and 7800go)? thanx! and sorry im such a dummy.. -
so is there going to be a dual core in jan.? ive read many sites saying that intel won't start shipping the dual core until march/april. but i have confirmed the new video card in jan with a dell person. he wouldnt tell me which gpu would it be.
-
ahh cool! and the new gpu will be for the I9300? correct?
plus is the I9300 the only model that will be updated in jan?
thanx! -
i dont know if the 9300 is going to be the only one, but the person i spoke put me on an emailing list for when the new video card is available for purchasing.
-
There is alot of rumors going around about the new models. Supposedly it won't just be the 9300, but some of the latitudes as well. I don't know the specifics of what all is going to be on each, but if you are interested in the new technology, it would be best to wait a few more months on the 9300. Of course with all of the new stuff, prices will increase and there will probably be backorders for at least a few weeks.

yeah, a geforce 7 series card for $400-500. I can see that.
Edit:Would the card cost that much? If so, no Playstation 3 for me.... -
well i guess it all depends. To me, if you are buying a new laptop with it, it seems like the price to add on the new cards are less expensive than purchasing them for laptops you already own. I guess all laptops parts are that way in some form or another. I'm looking to get a truelife screen to replace my screen...and i don't even want to know how much it is going to cost me.
You might wait until the summer or fall and get the new card. Surely by then prices will have gone down. -
yeah, i was thinking about the summer as a birthday present.
-
so the new gpu will be a 7800go?
and if that's the best bet what kind of performance difference can be expected between the two? (the other gpu being the 6800go..)
thanx! -
i dont know about that. the only 7 series gpus are the 7800gtx go and the 7300 go. dell could be upgrading the x300 to the 7300 go or the 6800 go to the 7800gtx go. we'll have to wait and see about that...
-
ahh i c... hopefully its from the 6800 to the 7800gtx go.. cuz otherwise there would be no point in waiting..
rite??....
plus do you think its wise to wait for the 7800gtx go for the new I9300? or just go for the 6800 go?
thanx any suggestions or input would be great! -
Any one know if other Inspirons will be updated as well? More specifically the 710m or a <13" notebook? Will these new processors be put in every machine?
-
I personally would purchase the 9300 now, and upgrade to it later. Than again I dont like waiting. -
ive done some google searches and came up with this. Nvidia could possibly come out with 2 new gps (both are 90nm) in January. A direct quote from anandtech.com, "Expect to see the GeForce 7200 to launch sometime in February, while the GeForce 7600 will receive a much larger launch in March, during Cebit. " Could this 7200 be the new video card for the 9300... In my opinion, they just need to put the 7800gtx in there.

I agree...a 7800 would make this I9300 scream.
-
They definitely won't give a 7800 to the i9300, unless there is a 7800 512 Go coming out at the same time. It's just bad for their XPS line.
-
I agree with Ardor, I was actually gonna post the same thing eariler. I was thinking that if they do go all the way to 7800, isnt that gonna hurt another line of product of theirs?
They might go to like what 7200? (does it exist?)
I would say if 7800 was gonna go to any line first, it would have to be the XPS line. -

Well...I don't think they would release anything worse than the 6800 Go, so whatever it is it should be better. That is all I care about.
-
it'll be the nVidia 7800 GT (not GTX) in the the e1705 / i9400
-
just fyi, you can upgrade to the go7800 right now. it will void your warranty, but tons of people have upgraded theirs on notebookforums.com, and they have been highly sucessful. you can call spare parts, and get one for around 270 $
-
-
and the 7800gt doesnt follow the pattern of mobile devices that nvidia has produced in the past. the patteren would be 7800go and 7800gtx go
-
whats the difference between 7800gt/gtx?
thanx! -

ccbr01,
Great post, thanks for the clarification. -
i can actually see nvidia just calling gt as the 7800 go. that would follow the 6800 go/6800ultra go scheme
-
awsome post thanx ccbr01!
rep +1 -
SLI for a laptop? I bet that won't apply lol
BTW... I would wait to see the facts because they sey new dual core proscesors do make a difference. In fact, I'll wait -
thats true! i read it from abaxter's post in the NEWS HEADLINES for tuesday dec13... GREAT POST by the way! THANK YOU abaxter!
but im not looking forward to the price increase for the new I9300.. because i have to buy from dell.ca.. sadly..
so im kind of torn between the two. -
i can also see dual core in the future for the i9300, but the primary concern is the video card for all of us current i9300 users
-
gah, now i read that a newer dual core processor will replace the yonah within 2006.. the merom...
i wonder if dell will update the I9300 again once this occurs..
:decision:
what do you guys and gals think?
thanks! -
i would say that dell would have a new, non-white bumpered inspiron by then
-
ahh ya you're probably rite..
hah im soo dense..
i guess if i keep lookin at the new tech i'll neva get my lappy..
soo sad..
what ta do.... -
this close to jan 6th. i would wait and see what dell has to say about the 9300 because people are starting to see prices rise because of the holidays
-
k i think ill do that!
thanx
but rite now i can't think of purchasing the new I9300 with the yonah.. because all i can think of is the upcoming merom hahaha...
still can't wait ta see what the specs and look of the new I9300 will be! -
in my opinion, it will take time before software will be able to use all of this new technology, so that is why many people on the forum say stick with the pentium-m. as i have posted on another thread, when thinking of dual core, i think of servers and massive data transfer. maybe games will benefit from the new technology, the mainstream programs people use, the old technology is good enough for that
Wait for the NEW I9300?
