Wait time for a D630?

I've heard of a lot of Dell laptops being delayed, but is that effect across all lines of laptops? I'd like to have a D630 within two weeks to get it before I head off to school.

 

Quick answer anyone? I'm about to order

 

My suggestion is to get a refurb'd one. They ship immediately.

 

Answer the question please. Is there a delay on all laptops or just certain models?

 

Honest answer is that I don't think anyone knows what the heck is going on with Dell right now. My advice:

I know when I was speccing a Vostro I got a message along the lines of: "want your notebook faster? Order a D630)

I would spec it out and see what the ESD is. That said, the way things are going now I wouldn't be suprised to see a delay, though most of the complaints I've heard have been relegated to the Vostro, Inspiron and, of course, XPS side of things.

Like the man said above, though...and you responded a bit rudely, your best bet is to order a D630 from the outlet...they'll have it to you in a couple days guaranteed. Otherwise, Dell is a bit of a crapshoot right now.

Everybody's experience is different...The original estimated ship date for my D630 was August 2. I actually received it on July 24--9 days before it was supposed to actually ship. (I have a WXGA screen--I think the WXGA+ screens have longer delays.)

No one here can give you a definite answer regarding delays...As Mieske says "Dell is a bit of a crapshoot right now."

Well I ordered a WXGA+ screen and the estimated ship date is Sept. 7. After looking at the outlet, it looks like a good alternative, but I can't see all of the exact specs on the notebooks, so I'd rather not do that. If my notebook takes too long to ship, I'll simply cancel and order something else. Asus has a nice line-up coming in the next couple months.

 

What is wrong with Dell supply?

You know if it take longer, people like to cancel.

 

Mine was delivered 6 days after I ordered it (ordered July 19th, Delivered July 25th). WXGA screen, though.

I also wasn't that satisfied with it - really washed out screen, stiff keyboard, quirky track point, fairly heavy for a 14 inch machine, etc. - and am returning it.

 

I have a loaded WXGA+ D630 that's brand new and never used I just received here a couple of weeks ago if anyone is looking for one. I'm either sending it back or selling it. I've got too many laptops on my hands here lately trying to figure out which one I liked more.

 

What do you mean you can't see the see all the options? If you click the service code you get a detailed pop up of the specs... in case that's what you were looking for?

 

D630 bought July 3rd, delivered July 9th, and i'm in Hawaii.

I think it will ship pretty quick.

 

it changes a lot..I ordered my Vostro 1400 at 7/16 and got it 8/1..

The estimated ship date wass 8/7 and it shipped on 7/31..

 

I ordered a D630 on 7/20, estimated shipping date is at 8/20.
WXGA+ screen.

Ordered my D630 (WXGA) on 8/1--estimated shipping date is 8/21. I ordered through Small Business, but noticed the estimated shipping dates on the education sites to be quicker. No idea why.

IMO, yours will ship before 8/21. Mine shipped 2 weeks before its actual "estimated shipping date".

 

I ordered mine, with the WXGA screen, on 7/29. Est ship date is 8/10. I remember the days, not too long ago, when I would have already had it

I ordered mine on 7/25 and estimated ship date is 8/23.. wxga+.. I was talking with someone from Dell yesterday and they told me that this is the maximum ship date that it will be shipped sooner.. so i'm waiting.. :]

 

I got the same song-and-dance routine - ordered 7/25 and ESD 8/24 but this is the last possible ship date blah blah blah - I'm not holding my breath. But I hope for your sake (and mine) that they ship before Friday...

 

Here in the UK, the wait times seem to be across the board. I ordered my D630 on 23rd July. First EDD was 13th August, which was subsequently moved to 3rd September.

No idea what the cause of the delay is - i.e. which part or parts is causing the problem.

 

Read some forum that Dell has to delay certain model due to worldwide LCD screen shortage. I am lucky to get my D630 within 7 working days. My friend has to wait at least 3 weeks now.
