Waiting for my XPS 1645

Hello everyone,

I ordered my XPS 16 during the signature event on 1/18 and it has a ship date of 2/8 which is on Monday. I don't expect that my laptop on time since its already Friday. The online status still shows it as pre-production and the two numbers I called say being processed/pre-prod/building plus the chat is no different.

I really hope there is no delay. I want my laptop! haha

Anyway just wanted to post and say hi.

 

You are having the same problem that myself and a lot of other people are having. This is caused by parts being out of stock.

Can you give us your specs that you ordered with?

The current issue is the RGBLED screen, there is such limited stock, that they are still trying to fill orders from early December.

Also note that if your order is in "pre production" aka not doing anything, for too long (im guessing about a month), they will automatically cancel your order, and you cannot re order with the same system again.


You would need to contact order modification and tell them that you want to wait for your order's parts to come into stock.


The bottom line: Don't expect it for another month or two.

 

Thanks for the reply, I entered my order specs in my signature. Its really disappointing that Dell's suppliers can't keep up. I was optimistic as I read that Dell recently had RGBLEDs in stock and machines in pre-prod were suddenly put into production. How do I get a hold of the modification dept? I'm not sure if I can wait another month for it to ship so I may cancel it. I would have gone with the HP dv7t if it had 1080p resolution.

 

Update: My order was suppose to ship today and it still hasn't, going to call Dell right now to see whats up.

 

Sigh..well no joy, was pushed back another week.

 

Do you know why it was pushed back? Did they say any specific part that was the cause for the delay? I ordered a 1645 on 2/1/10 and the estimated delivery date is 2/26/10.

 

I'm waiting on an XPS 1640 with the 1080P WLED screen, which has apparently been back-logged according to the XPS16's "Personalize" page. However, this page also said the RGBLED's were in stock, so who knows...

 

whoo hooo! my 1645 went into production today from being in pre-production for 3 plus weeks. Hopefully it will arrive by the EDD of 2/18 now.

 

Looks like they got a new supply of RGBLED's. A bunch of us who were waiting for three weeks have had our systems put into production now.

 

I just called the status line and found out that my 1645 is in the "boxing" stage. =) Hopefully it will ship tomorrow and be delivered on Thursday since my EDD is 2/18.

I ordered on 6th of Feb with RGBLED and still in pre-production (UK). I have a feeling I will be waiting a long, long time..

 

I ordered mine on 1/18 so if I get it on time I would have waited about a month for it.

 

I ordered on 1/27, and today it just moved into delivery preparation

I just received a Dell email stating my order's EDD has been revised to 2/24. I called the status line this morning and its still in boxing. I imagine the delay is because I have 3-5 day shipping and it would not arrive by the 18th. I responded back to Dell to keep processing my order but I'm thinking about canceling, just too many delays is starting to irk me.

 

I highly doubt it, if you read the order status wiki thread, the "boxing/delivery preparation" stage is when they ship the computer from overseas to the usa, then it will be "Shipped", then 5-7 days if you chose standard shipping.

 

Looks like Dell just loves to play with the EDDs. Yesterday delayed to 2/24 and Dell wanting me to confirm if I wanted to cancel my order or continue. Tonight I look and the EDD revised to 2/20 and shipped! Fedex has picked up the package and estimate to deliver this Friday 2/19. Whoo hooo...can't wait!

 

My fedex EDD was friday also, but it has since changed to the 23rd...

 

Oh that sucks, there must be some conspiracy to make us wait. My FedEx EDD is still tomorrow 2/19 although the status location says Shipment Info Sent to FedEx yesterday and picked up in Nashville. I'll be surprised if I see it tomorrow but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

 

My XPS is here! It arrived this morning and I'm psyched to play with it. From first glance I received the 90 Watt adapter so I'm sure I'll have to update the BIOS etc. Hope you guys love your machines.

 

With everyone else's shipping I was hoping mine would push through. I ordered on 1/31 with an EDD of 2/25 but it was just delayed to 3/04 with my first delay.
