    Hey guys,
I placed on order for a Dell Studio 15 on July 22nd and 9 days later it is still in the build stage. The one I ordered has a back-lit keyboard and as of today that luxury adds 20 days to the wait time. I was wondering if it will ship by the 1st and be here by the 5th just like Dell estimated. Thanks.

I ordered mine on the 21st and it is still in the build stage. With all the bad reviews that I'm seeing on here its making me wonder if I should just cancel...

well.. a lot of people are saying the built-in speakers sounds like crap... the sound for me is OK although not the greatest.. but i'm buying a good set of external speakers anyway.. so nothing to worry bout..

the keyboard does have a bit of flexes... but it's just a little.. so not to worry bout too much too..

it feels plasticky (?) is that really a bad review?

those are just some of the minor problems which i thought some of 'us' who complained might have been a bit tad overreacted...

i had mine last Saturday and so far it's working great :)

well, for one thing, there are more owners of xps1530 here in this forum compared to studio15, since xps1530 came out last year, and studio15 only came out like a month ago..

i have to agree that xps1530 is a much more powerful gaming machine.. but since you do not game much, go with studio15, you could upgrade it with a WLED too which... is a GREAT upgrade.. btw, studio15 is a very good machine for video encoding and photoshop, if it concerns u anyhow :)

I love my Studio, was looking at the XPS before buying it (test machine from a friend, Best Buy, Dell kiosk). I was not all that impressed. I'm not a big fan of the premium price for a "better" built quality. To me they're put up the same way but the material is a tad better in most area.

XPS have aluminum for the cover and around the keyboard, from what I've notice it gets hot, just like the MBP. The Studio runs cool, left it on all day and my own heat was warming up more than anything. Also there have been a lot of reports that people get a small electric shock from the aluminum cover. Also the trackpad isn't "closed" around the edge like the Studio, after a while I'm sure dust and garbage would build up around it. The keyboard wasn't all that great to me, it was on par with the Inspiron.

@maksa, i'm not very sure but i'm guessing that the vostro line is mainly for business usage. thus, u don't need a very good processor, Harddisk storage (last time i checked it was only 80gig), and not a very good GPU (using only integrated graphics i think)..

it's just sufficient for programs like microsoft office and all those business related stuff :)
