Waiting on my vostro 1700, I have a few questions.

I ordered them a few days ago and I was really hoping to find some good pics and a video review of some sort. If anyone can link me to anything it would be appreciated.

Yeah I was thinking about the 1500 but I just decided to go with the 1700

 

I just bought a 1500 Dual Core too yesteday (order was confirmed today), with a few upgrades: XP Pro, better screen (XGA+ and TrueLife), 128MB video card, 9-cell battery, Bluetooth, custom partition 60/100...total cost $870 plus tax. solid specs, not bad at all for a budget portable which will get light to medium use. matched or exceeded the HP I had been using for work previously. oh yeah 1-year on-site warranty for $39, forget about that mail-in-and-pray with no loaner or working notebook in the meantime. not dealing with the pray or the wait. beyond that I'll take my chances since the extended warranties run a bit steep and I'm quite comfortable with replacing anything that manages to fail beyond the 365 days.

I also like the fact it comes with the dual-layer DVD-RW/CD-ROM combo drive. basically top of the line included.

also ordered a WD Pro ES External 500GB. looks like that thing's gonna take the longest. like the 19" Samsung LCD monitor with my last desktop purchase (took about 3-1/2 weeks, yikes). but free shipping and best price on the net for that drive, I can't really complain.

will post review / thoughts of 1500 once it's securely in hand.
